THE RAYS ARE STILL STANDING.
Tampa Bay was three outs from a sweep, then a run away from elimination in the 12th. The Rays found an answer and walked off the Brewers 4–3 in Game 4, cutting Milwaukee’s World Series lead to 3–1.
THE 12TH-INNING TURNAROUND
Cooper Pratt’s leadoff home run put Milwaukee ahead 3–2 in the top of the 12th and brought the Brewers within reach of their first championship.
In the bottom half, Junior Caminero reached on a throwing error and went first to third on Liam Hicks’ single. Caminero, who was limping, gave way to pinch-runner Cedric Mullins. Jonny DeLuca tied the game with a single, Chandler Simpson loaded the bases, and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson bounced the winning hit into right field.
THE SERIES: MILWAUKEE 3, TAMPA BAY 1
The Brewers remain one win from their first World Series title. The Rays need three straight wins to claim their first championship, beginning tonight at Tropicana Field.
Three of the four games have been decided by one run. Milwaukee won Game 1 by a 3–2 score and Game 2 by 5–4, then pulled away 10–1 in Game 3 before Tampa Bay’s Game 4 response.
GAME 5: MISIOROWSKI VS. RASMUSSEN
Milwaukee: Jacob Misiorowski, RHP. The Brewers’ right-hander returns after allowing one run on four hits over five innings in Game 1. He led the majors with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts in the regular season.
Tampa Bay: Drew Rasmussen, RHP. The Rays are turning to Rasmussen on three days’ rest. He allowed three runs over 3⅔ innings in Game 2, leaving with a lead before Milwaukee rallied. His workload is a key question after Tampa Bay used seven pitchers in Game 4.
First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 28.
THE HISTORY AND THE EDGE
No team has ever come back from a 3–0 deficit to win the World Series. Before Tampa Bay, four teams had avoided a sweep after falling behind 3–0; each lost Game 5. The 2004 Red Sox remain the only MLB team to erase a 3–0 deficit in a best-of-seven postseason series, doing it against the Yankees in the ALCS.
History sets the stakes, not tonight’s result. Misiorowski gives Milwaukee a powerful arm in a closeout game, while Rasmussen’s short rest and the Rays’ bullpen workload deserve attention. Check the confirmed lineups and current price before making a decision.
Junior Caminero is in the Rays’ Game 5 lineup after leaving Game 4 with a foot injury.
Rays fans: Does the Game 4 comeback change the feel of this series, or is Milwaukee still in control?
